Description

This is from the 1943 sequence from the comic strip "Li'l Abner" which is now known as "Zoot Suit Yokum". Abner has taken to wearing a zoot suit which has led to a sequence of events that promises to put the clothing industry out of business (Better they had, "Birthday Suit Daisy Mae). In desperation, they go the the most expensive consultant in the world. He charges $10,000 a word and for every word he says while you're in his office. He does eventually say a few words that solve their problem and proves that he is worth every penny. Of all my Abners, this is the earliest and is the most likely to have been done by Capp himself. This sequence is one of my favorites and one I actually used in lectures before finding this piece of it for sale.

Yes, somebody really is cut this single panel out of the daily.
