DescriptionHard to imagine a no-action panel page more exemplary of why Uncanny was so catchy in the '80s. Wolverine has just stabbed his teammate Rachael, Cyclops's daughter from an alternate future, potentially heir to the corrupting absolute Phoenix power. The other X-Men are not too happy about that, and the explanation by Wolverine is just pure Claremont-ean dialogue "She was too powerful, too obsessed...an' I...was too weak". For the readers who had witnessed the devastation brought on by the all-powerful Dark Phoenix it kind of made sense, yet I certainly pondered on the moral dilemma involved. However, what really drew me to this page are Green's incredibly deep and dramatic inks. I believe that Green is somewhat undervalued as an inker. He was responsible for the consistent, dark and quirky look that the book had throughout most of the '80s, with both fine line work and great use of shadows. And, by the way, the SNIKT sound effect does not hurt either. I would like to thank the two people who helped me to secure this. I am not sure they want to be mentioned but thank you so much, you know who you are. Social/Sharing |

This page is magnificent!! I tried to buy it direct when it was first listed but the gent wouldn't end the auction. I'm sure he's glad he didn't! Congratulations

Great page with most of the key X-Men from this time period. Any page that has Wolverine in every panel has to be a winner.

One does not need action to make a great page, just outstanding storytelling and artwork, and this is a fantastic example of that. Congrats!

X-Men issue with the classic Wolverine cover of the book makes you want to see the Wolverine story pages. There couldn't be a better example from it.

Looking at this page brings back the smell of comic book paper and how, while reading it, those stories would transport you to a world you never wanted to leave... As Wolverine would say: "Nice buy, bub!"

Such a perfect JRJr X-Men page. Wolverine doesn't often have to try and explain his violent tendencies, but here he is sure put on the spot by his angry teammates. The splash of water from the ceiling onto his shoulder is a nice touch. And I agree that Dan Green is an amazing inker who deserves more attention. Pages like this definitely help promote his talents. Great add!
