I�ve been hunting for a good page from the original run of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a couple of years now. After a couple of near misses � and high prices � I was finally in the right place at the right time. (Big thanks to M for making the deal and packing it up bomb-safe.) And I feel extra lucky that it�s from one of my favorite issues of the run.

Growing up in a small town, I didn�t have a lot of comic shopping options. Most of my books came off the spinner at the grocery store. But then I found a comic shop in a neighboring town and my eyes were opened up to books beyond Batman and Wolverine.

TMNT was a gateway series for me. It was one of the first books I found that wasn�t part of the Big Two. The stories were goofy. The art was crude. But it was fun, and I was hooked.

The real star to this very nice early TMNT page you have here is The Alley, where shit always went down in 80s.

Classic one shot! These were great jumping on points that didn't require you to hunt those rare first issues and set you up for the next story arc.

I was the underbidder on a great Casey Jones page from this issue. Missing out on that made me hunt down a good example before I was priced out. I'd love to improve on this, but very happy with it for now.
