DescriptionTodd McFarlane pays homage to his iconic Spidey #1 cover a dramatic splash of his trademark "broken-hip" Spider-man and detailed white-on-black webbing...a McSpidey showcase piece by the uber-talented artist at the top of his game.-- Some would prefer this splash page without the inset panels, but I disagree. I think crouching Spidey on two panels creates a stunning 3-D effect and breaks the so-called 'Fourth Wall' (the invisible barrier separating the comic from the reader, fantasy from reality). Visually, Spidey appears to pop off the page. What do you think? Social/Sharing |

Completely agree, Dino! Todd was a master and pioneer in terms of panel layout and use and, like you say, it really added a layer of depth to his pages - definitely the case here! Congrats!

I agree with you. Having that great shot of Spidey & his webs in the midst of all that other action makes the page even more appealing and theatrical. Really draws you in. Fantastic piece!

How do you even read this this book without the pages sticking together? I mean all the webbing. Mind out of the gutter Dino.

Outstanding example of McFarlane's Spidey! I agree that the 3-D effect over the 2 panels is pretty cool. Congrats!

This actual page was the very first original Todd McFarlane piece I ever bought. I was 20 or 21 years old and at a comic convention in Vancouver in 1993/1994 and a guy was selling it for $300.00 in a really nice frame. We made a deal where I paid him $150.00 (CANADIAN DOLLARS) for the art and he kept the frame. I had it for a few years before it left my collection. Great to see it again. What a page!

An absolute stunner of a McSpidey page! I agree, Dino, the inset panels enhance that incredible center image of Spidey, and makes the page that much more memorable. Todd's layout during his 'peak' period were simply next-level genius.

Mr McFarlane, in his element! It just feels like you can sense that Todd is having a good time here with all the webs, stretching Spidey out to the physical limits and beyond . Just a fun page!

Spider-man never looked so good. I have always been a fan of characters outside and crossing over panels and this page really excels at it with flawless composition. Quite visually captivating and congrats.
