DescriptionDay 09. Thirty-one days of Star Wars (2025 edition).Today nets a two-fer, as I’m posting pages 14 and 16 from this issue. Or maybe it’s a two-fur? Do Star Wars universe cats also have nine lives? Luke, Leia, and Han find themselves up to their ears in fur-coated trouble when they get caught in the middle of a bloody conflict between two fanatic factions of a race of cat-people. "Catspaw!" was written by Jo Duffy, penciled by Sal Buscema, and inked by Tom Palmer. Buscema penciled just two issues of the original Marvel Star Wars series, this one and issue 102. On this page Luke, Han, and their ally Sami are held captive by the Cantrosians, who debate using torture tactics. Unbeknownst to them, Luke is quietly observing and planning their escape. I don't remember Sal having drawn any Star Wars issues, how cool! The nice thing is that they continued to keep Palmer gainfully employed, which gave the series a nice, consistent look no matter who was pencilling.

Risky Solo with nine lives
Interesting torture like the empire
Patient people Luke is inked by Tom
Just about to call up the escape plan

I would not have guessed it was Sal under Tom here; it could have been Marie Severin for all I know. But I am not complaining; Palmer did a good job with the character likenesses.

that close up shot of Luke in panel 2 is money!
even though I'm a dog person it's nice to know cats don't condone torture...well, physical torture anyway. they've got the mental torture nailed perfectly!
