An impressive try-out page and clearly it should have landed Jack Katz the job, but I suspect that John Buscema was hard to topple in those days.

Jack Katz did work for for Timely (Atlas?) in the 1950's as well as other publishers during the golden age. I imagine that Katz was known by old timers at Marvel. Why didn't Katz get the job?-it was probably a question of style rather than ability.
