Description

My favorite Filipino master provides this lush, dramatic Swamp Thing cover that never saw the newsstand. Meant for Swamp Thing #15, the fact that three of the four male figures on this cover are without pants proved too much for the comics code. Also, one of them is Satan. Regardless, you'll rarely see the lush, nearly florid Philippine aesthetic applied with such control and confidence. Nestor Redondo's command of naturalistic lighting and anatomy make this piece a perfect example of this style without exhibiting its most baroque extremes. Don't get me wrong; I love baroque extremes.
