DescriptionI just can't think of any artist (other than Arthur) that started their career on such a high, and one that still produces amazing stuff at a consistently crazy level of goodness. Other artists that I love had to toil at their craft a bit before fame and accolades would follow (eg Mignola and Travis Charest). For me, my nostalgic sweet zone is Arthur's body of work from about 1985 to 1988. Everything he did in that time frame just resonates with me. This cover, along with some of the Classic X-Mens, and of course, New Mutants Special Edition, is where my love and appreciation for his talent began. Thanks to Hans and Mary for hand delivering this to me at last year's Big Apple show. Two very nice people who I always enjoy conversing with. Social/Sharing |

While Arthur's work today is technically superior to that of say 20-25 years ago, there's no denying that pieces from this time period (mid to late 80's) is what people remember best. When we all became fans back then, we knew this guy was good, but we just didn't know HOW good. Whether it's Asgardian Wars, New Mutants, X-Men annuals, Longshot, or Classic X-Men, the body of work from this period are among the most beloved and prized for collectors! Congrats on prying this away from Hans. And you're right, Hans & Mary are two of the nicest folks you ever want to meet.

Asgardian Wars is one of my favorite classic superheroe comics, and this is an amazing piece of art. I will content with the prelim of this cover. Congratulations, Joe, this is extraordinary!

You just keep knocking them out of the park. How do you do it? When my collection grows up, I want it to be just like yours.

Dayum, that's an ultimate cover. I looked at this cover to the TPB as a kid growing up over and over at all the little details.

Can't say how many hours I spent staring at this image as the cover of the trade-paperback as a crazed 15 year old Marvel fan. Love how Art handled every character in this image, but there's something about his Sasquatch in particular that really knocked me out...
