DescriptionJOHN ROMITA AMAZING SPIDERMAN 1972 ROCKOMIC POSTER.Found this taped on a wall in a vinyl record store. It was in the back with postings for local concerts.I asked the young lady at the counter if she would ask the owner if he would sell it. "Oh he'll never sell that." "But I'll ask him." She did. He said $50 I said $40 and it was done. I took it carefully off the wall it was taped on the back with gorilla proof packing tape. It took twenty minutes of "surgery" but I removed the tape without tearing the poster. I immediately took it to a professional framer to have them build me a custom frame due to the unusual size dimensions.22 1/4 by 22 1/4 inches. From Marvel Comics Amazing Spiderman Buddah records Rockomic this poster contains on the back the names of the actors and which character's voice they spoke. Social/Sharing |

Thanks for posting. I bought the Alex Ross reproduction but I have never seen the original and didn't know what it looked like until now.

Although original comic art is the usual norm here,
there are certain exceptions to the rule. Take this
"classic" Spider-Man poster for instance. Almost
half a century old, and done by Spidey's definitive
artist; "Jazzy" John Romita Sr. During my child-
hood, "Spider-Man: A Rockomic", was played to
death. Not only was there a great story. Not only
was there great art. Not only was there great voice
actors. Not only were there great new songs (*cheesy,
as they may be* ;) But there was even this magnificent
poster which was taken directly from the LP cover itself.
I still have mine, but was never able to frame it properly.
Leave it to you, Michael, showing us all how it's done.
Truth be told, I have my old LP cover recently framed.
But simply can not stop there until the poster, like yours,
is framed as well. Blast it; it still looks too cool. Thanks
for the jolt of inspiration, Mike.
p.s. One of the songs, on the album, is entitled; "It's Such A
Groove To Be Free". I'm a little embarrased to say I still remember
all the lyrics. And no; it isn't because I now have the LP burned
on a CD. And hey; the song can still tug at the ol' heart strings.
"SHEESH".. :(

That's great thanks Daniel. I jusr remember being captivated by this cover as a kid. I remember playing the record but mostly just holding the record in hand and staring at it. John Romita you are the man!!!!!!

Never had the chance to get close to that record, but that Romita poster is truly something to behold!
