Seminal moment in Marvel history. I was 11 so reading these issues did make me pause. Grew up a little bit.
I love Buscema Surfer. Fine example from the series.
I grew up on Kolchak. I still watch from time to time. This is a wonderful snapshot of a usual day at the office for our hero.
Walloping wowzers. A magnificent 50 year old KIRBY cover of epic dynamism!
Hans from Tri State is an honest guy. I remember this great piece. I'm glad it went to a true fan and not to a mercenary flipper.
Bad to the bone. That's all you could want from a page from this book.
I've enjoyed Rudy's work for 50 years now. This is a cool Dr. Doom. I have to check out your Doom wall!
Marie could draw at any scale. Delightful Spider-Man.
This gal picked a bad night to get caught under the glare of a full moon. The beasts heart wants to burst, the desire to feed is beyond human control. Once man, the werewolf cannot control what he is about to do. Frazetta werewolf and girl is checkmate.
Inspired George Tuska on this page. I think the first 100 issues of the Avengers was incredible. So much neat stuff happenning here.
Now that's a guy I wouldn't want to run into walking in a dark Latverian alleyway.
I've heard great things about Cheung's art. Now I've witnessed a great example thanks to you Bill. A + * * * *
You can't beat all the great characters on this MTE BC. It looks like The Thing wants to go full scale clobberin time on Namor's head.
The six page back up story. :-) Again, congrats on a cool page.
Thank you so much Jim, I always believed this piece was a tease for the eventual MOS series. Byrne absolutely breathed fire into that series!
Byrne really delivered with S-M CH One. This is an outstanding page reminiscent of a battle way back in ASM issue 8.
Fabian. Is this fair lady in danger, or is she THE danger? Poetic haunt-vibes grab hold and drag us closer.closer. My dear friend you have a keen eye for ladies in dark places. O-[mmmmmmm*
Scintillating combination of artists to honor Batman 400. I love it.
Satisfying. Recreations are like sugar rushes. Take a bite and the sugar works like magic. But they can lose their taste after awhile. Not here. Inspired yes. Detailed in scrumptious gothic noir atmosphere. This one as you've described is not so much a recreation, but an inspiration come to life. A keeper.
Our Pal Sal a very respected artist. I remember the first time he drew Spidey in the ASM comic. Really dig your Spidey by a true talent
Nostalgia man. I expect your commission subjects to bound in place until you hit start. Massive time capsule material here to teach those who come after us:-)
Issues 1-18 will forever stand as a benchamark for understanding the noble Silver Surfer. How fitting as both brothers have left us but we have a magnificent example of their joint efforts. A + Oliver.
There's a reason why we have the Eisner Awards for excellence in the comic art field. Look at this compelling Spirit cover by a true master.
My brother was watching Letterman at the time. He actually showed me this page from the Avengers 239 comic, and it got me to start watching the show. This is really cool. I knew this page had to be out there somewhere.
FF 116 is a classic and a story my brother and I both cheerish. I love that you've been the caretaker of this for 40 years or so. The action and hell the FF are put under is maddening. Doom and the Overmind at their most diabolical.
The great Bill Everett working with the all time King of Comics Jack Kirby. Someone pick me up off the floor I'm woosy. Everett's distinct touch is seen particularly in panel 2. and he adds a nice touch to the brooding, massive body of the Hulk as only could be drawn by the legendary Jack Kirby.
I loved this period of artistic creation by Kirby. His work feels fresh and free of burden. To create another viable universe from the ashes of his marvel parting, it boggles the mind the universe and characters he conjured. A BP #1 page is a legendary grab.
What a treasure. Hits harder with the recent passing of our Pal Sal. Dr. Strange and The Hulk are drawn with passion and determination.
I love the art by Gibbons on this 2000AD. I've seen a few pages in person and they are knockouts. This is a gorgeous example.
Loved this seriesand I still have the run I bought as a kid. Very cool to see an original page from Vigilante.
I think it's very Asgardian. Lining up twice, getting it done. You'll always have that memory of the interaction to go with the piece.
