DescriptionWalt Simonson Thor. A breathtaking commission to raise funds for the benefit of an important cause the MoCCA in NYC. Walt is such a powerful artist it’s hard to look away from his contemplative and graceful god of Thunder. You are welcome at anytime to come back and examine the detail Walt poured into his Thor. Just make sure you’ve blocked out some time on your calendar so you can meditate without interruption.San Diego Comic Con 2022: Obtained with a trial by Odin Fire and the releasing of a truck load of Valhalla-coin I searched every obscure booth at the con and found one that was 99.8% comics and this glorious Simonson. I made a substantial cash offer on Saturday but was rebuffed. I left the Con and thought about the piece of art all night. Next day I came back and made a bigger offer but was rejected again. The piece was on consignment and the comic shop owner insisted he had 0 wiggle room. I walked away. I went and talked to long time collector and dealer Albert Moy and some fellow collecting pals to discuss. I showed Albert the pic and he remembered it (he owned it) from early 2000’s. I knew I was going to buy it but sometimes you have to psych yourself up when you don’t get your way. I went back and agreed to terms and proudly took this baby home. It speaks for itself I think but would love to hear from you all. Excelsior as Stan Lee used to say!!!!! Social/Sharing |

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! Powerful heroic shot of the Thunder God by the God of Illustration :) Love the slightly lowered camera angle, and that he's looking RIGHT at the viewer! Don't wanna be a bad guy in this scenario :) Huge congrats!

"BY THE BRISTLING BEARD OF ODIN" ~ WOW! For years now, I've been searching wide & low for a Walt Simonson Thor. Still, no such luck. I've seen some rough body sketches, along with some so, so head-shots. But this one is really something special. Anyone can see that Walt took his time on this. The detail & pose are incredible. This would have easily made it as a cover or splash with ease. The Odinson never looked more majestic & powerful than he does here. I'm not going to ask how much this cost you, but I'm guessing (*at the very least*) 10G. And even if it cost you that much, you stole it. "BRAVO"! So, till the day this masterpiece hangs in the "HALLOWED HALLS OF ASGARD", keep this beauty out of the sun, and display it, in your home, for all the world to see. (*with the exception of Loki, of coarse*) Thanks for sharing the greatness. 'nuff said.

The Thor costume always shows up well in black and white with the majestic Asgardian pose. It is a very nice vintage and crafted to have the image look iconic like cornerbox art.

Man, I wished you had asked me. I would have talked you into buying it in a flash. I won't ask what you paid, because it really doesn't matter. What matters is that this incredible piece is yours and that price is just a number. A number that will be a distant memory sooner than you might imagine. And every time you look at this piece, that number will mean less and less. Congrats buddy! THIS IS EPIC!!!!!

Impressive. Worthy of a poster. It's not easy to get a drawing like this from Walter Simonson, you are very lucky. Enjoy it along with the wonderful collection you have. Best regards my friend!

Worth a night on Yggdrasil, I'd say! Huge congrats for this major piece: the expression on Thor's face is so... godlike...

This piece has all three of the most important qualities of a brilliant Thor commission: power, majesty, and Simonson. :) Sincere congrats on an incredible work of art and unbeatable SDCC con experience! Bravo!

Great Simonson! I saw this on Wednesday @ SDCC. It stopped me in my tracks. I had to get a closer look. I said to myself "that might be the best piece at the show." It is a beauty. Congrats.

I love your backstory as much as the artwork (which BTW is totally amazing!). I know exactly how you feel. My wife realizes the signs and simply says I can do what I like (which isn't encouraging by the way). Huge congrats for scoring this brilliant piece!
