DescriptionThe recent $1 million sale for Al Migrom's ASM #194 cover introducing Black Cat made OA collectors take notice. The only Black Cat OA in my collection is this Al Migrom Spectacular Spider-Man #128 cover featuring the 1st app of Black Cat in a new costume. An early appearance of black-costume Spide with bonus cameo by Daredevil. During the 1980s, Marvel introduced several new costumes to show innovation, generate excitement, refresh /modern characters, reflect fashion trends and/or social themes, expand color palattes, etc. Some became fan favorites (black costume Spidey, gray Hulk, new-look Thor, Iron Man War Machine) while others like this new Black Cat cpstume, well, not so much. Black Cat soon reverted back to her classic black-and-fur costumer. This stylish, modern costume did have its "day" (albeit not many of them lol). The Wolverine-inspired mask was not surprising given Wolverine's enormous popularity at the time. What are your thoughts on the costume? Social/Sharing |

I can see why the costume didn't stick. Don't mess with a classic.

It looks like Mockingbird so I get why it didn't last. Cool piece!

Great cover! I like how the flying death machines have high saftey railings. Even evil villians have OSHA standards!

Fantastic late 80's art. Her fashion was unique and short lived but represented the late 80's well. Congrats on your Black Cat representation, on a cover nonetheless. Cheers!

The costume was hideous. The art, clearly not!

Someone paid a 1 million for ASM 194 cover?????????? Al did much better covers. Is comic artwork the new money laundering?

The old costume was 70's sleek disco, and this was very 80's with lots of fashion accessories! Pretty fun with Al Migrom using old school Ditko styled poses for Spidey and Daredevil.

Since you asked, Dino, I despised her new costume from the moment I laid eyes on this cover the day I went to pick up my new comics at the store. It's awful. Given how briefly she sported it, it seems most fans felt the same way about it. But what did YOU think of it?
Thankfully, that doesn't detract from the rest of this action-packed cover and having Daredevil is a nice bonus. But, you never should've sold that Buckler cover with Sabretooth I sold you. Come to think of it, I never should've sold it in the first place!

Nice one. I bet Felicia was more upset with what they did to her hair...

Gorgeous piece Dino! At first I thought that was Mockingbird and not Black Cat!

And if you think Black Cat's new costume was a dud, think about when they made Daredevil switch to a grey costume with lots of pockets. That didn't last long. And then there was the time they gave Ben Grimm a Helmet along with a blue sleeveless shirt and pants. And don't they seem to redesign Wolverine's costume like once a year? Me, I'm a big fan of leaving well enough alone. Although I DID like the black suit on Spidey, but it seems to belong to Venom now.
