DescriptionCreig Flessel is best known for drawing the original, Golden Age Sandman in Adventure Comics. He also was the artist on all but one of the first seventeen covers of Detective Comics and worked for Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in what is now DC before the Major was forced out. Before the Sandman, Flessel illustrated Street and Smith pulps such as the similarly dressed Shadow.Social/Sharing |

I remember Flessel was still attending cons in the early 00's and was active in engaging the younger artists into trading sketches with him through his helpers, also providing art for the convention auctions, and mainly to be in panels about the old DC.

Thanks Marcus for sharing recollections of Flessel. I wished I had met him and Jack Kirby, although I did have the opportunity to sit next to Jerry Robinson at a Heroes Con auction in the early 2000's and break bread with Irwin Hasen.
