DescriptionI think that Buscema & Alcala pages are the clear demonstration that the combination of two talents can sometimes outpace what any of them could produce on his own.I must confess that I have never really liked Alcala's pencils and his solo work. But his detailed, intense inks on Buscema's Conan pages... one of the greatest accomplishment on the medium and my favorite Conan period. So many memories... Enjoy ! Social/Sharing |

I totally share your enjoyment of JB/AA on Conan! The final art is much more than the sum of the parts! Alcala's inks are just incredible! Please keep me in mind if you ever decide to sell this page. Thanks!

From one of my favorite stories, The People of the Black Circle. I'll give you more for it than Brauny will :)

Great page, the last panel with a close-up on Conan's eyes is simply out of this world !!

I used to own that page (and the sketch page that went with it), and was always impressed with what a cinematic approach John took to this story. You're definitely right about Alfredo's inking. It gave those Conan stories such a classic look.

This page caused quite the buzz on some Spanish OA blogs. One example: http://artcomicenventa.blogspot.com/2008/12/nueva-pgina-de-conan-la-torre-del.html

I started reading Marvel comics with Stan Lee super heroes when I was 5 with french editions Strange, Marvel, Fantask. Few years later I fall on my ass when I discovered Alcala inking Conan on top of Buscema. Who could have bet someone could take over BWS. Since I am a super fan of Alcala (see my gallery). I'm glad to have started collecting some years from now (the rate is enormous nowdays). Le Fredo

Great page! I love the backgrounds (in my view always a weakness when JB inks himself, he wasn‘t to much interested in the surroundings, concentrating on the people and their expressions) and the intense look!
