Karate Kid vs. Hawkman by Chris Batista, John Dell and Simon Gough

I've been a huge fan of Chris Batista's art for many years, from way back in the day when he was doing backup stories in X-Factor. And of course his work with the Legion of Super-Heroes is some of my favorite of all time. I contacted Chris about doing a Karate Kid commission for me and gave him a few opponents to choose from. Chris went with Hawkman and soon after sent me some amazing pencils! I love all of the details in Hawkman's costume, and his wings look incredible. I also really like how Hawkman looks enraged by the battle, while Karate Kid remains calm and focused. I sent Chris's pencils off to the extremely talented John Dell and John quickly worked his magic on them. Just look at those gorgeous inks! Later on, I asked the extremely talented Simon Gough to color this one up, and he made it even more gorgeous! I love the background color choices and how he colored the point of impact with Karate Kid's foot and Hawkman's mace. Big thanks to all three artists for their fantastic work on this commission!

Carter Hall may be an expert warrior in the skies, but Val Armorr, thanks to his Legion Flight Ring, is a master of anti-grav martial arts. So yeah, this would be one brutal fight in the air, and Val would have a tough time at first dealing with Carter's weapons and skills, but ultimately I think that Carter will lose his temper and that will cost him the fight.

I'm not a DC guy but I have always LOVED Hawkman. He's always been a fave and he looks awesome here. Dell is such a star as an inker. Bravo.
