Karate Kid vs. Bane by Craig Cermak

I've been following Craig Cermak's work for a while now. He always post excellent sketches and commissions online, and his storytelling abilities in the Red Team series are fantastic. And as a bonus to all of that, Craig is a Legion of Super-Heroes fan! So yeah, I knew I had to commission him one day and that day came recently. I e-mailed Craig and after a little back and forth, he decided on Bane as the opponent. I really dig the layout here with Val dodging one of Bane's punches. It looks like Val may have been perched on that wall, and now he's about to come down on the back of Bane's neck with a Super-Karate chop! Craig included some great details like Karate Kid's Flight Ring, the buckles on his wrist guards, Bane's Venom delivery controller on his hand, and the whole city background. And look at those gorgeous ink washes! I highly recommend you all go commission Craig for yourself.

So yeah, Bane is the "Man who Broke the Bat", but so what? He won't have the same long-term strategy against Val Armorr that he used against Batman years ago. This will just be a straight-up physical brawl. Now get me wrong, Bane is an excellent fighter, and much stronger than Karate Kid, so Val will have a fight on his hands. BUT, Val is faster and more skilled than Bane in every way. So while Val may have to dodge some of those powerful blows from Bane, he will take him down hard pretty quickly.

Craig has done a few Infinite Timelines pieces over the years and his love of Legion shows. The tones, the body language, Val's facial expressions, all add to make this a fantastic addition to the "karate Kid Vs " collection
