Karate Kid vs. Black Canary by Mike Grell and Simon Gough

Mike Grell is pretty much the definitive Karate Kid artist to me. His run on Legion of Super-Heroes is one of my all-time favorites. But I personally discovered Mike�s work through his run on Green Arrow. So this was the first match-up that came to my mind when I thought about getting a commission from Mike. And of course it looks great! I rarely get drawings with Val Armorr defending so I�m glad that Mike chose to put Dinah on the offensive. Years later I passed this over to Simon Gough to color and he made this piece somehow look even more gorgeous! This is definitely worthy of being a published cover, in my opinion.

As long as Dinah doesn�t use her Canary Cry then Val will win hands-down. Dinah will put up one hell of a fight, but Val is just too skilled. I�m sure afterwards Dinah will ask him to teach her some moves to add to her repertoire. However, if Dinah uses her sonics in the fight, she might just take Val out.

Fantastic commission. Grell was the perfect artist for this, since he knew both characters very well.
