Description

Another piece from the recent Heritage auction. Weirdly mis-identified in the auction catalogue as 'a character study sketch of Rogue Trooper commissioned by/for Pat Mills by an unknown artist', the piece is clearly by Cam Kennedy (it's Rogue Trooper! that's Cam's handwriting!), and is, presumably, a prelim for an unpublished cover.

Judging by Rogue's little sausage fingers, I'm gong to say mid-eighties, when Cam had left RT and was working on Judge Dredd, as well as starting to break into the American market with 'Outcasts'. 2000AD was publishing collected 'Best of' newsprint editions with glossy colour covers at that time, and Cam produced a number of new covers for those editions. This would be a prelim for one of those.

Interesting to note Cam using both spellings of 'colour' & 'color'.

Yeah, was wondering who the artist on this was and now that you mention it it does look like Cam Kennedy circa Outcasts. You certainly know your 2000AD, earthlet.

Did no one ever tell you that the real reason for the Quartz massacre was that the GI's could not shoot because of their little sausage fingers?

Very nice! You get the furturistic crystalline environment and a pose out of a Vietnam era jungle battle.
