Description

Black Box was from Mark Millar's run on the Vertigo Swamp Thing title. He was created as a last minute stand in for Alan Scott, whom apparently Millar wanted to use but was denied. The story's setting is meant to be a pastiche of Earth-2.

Black Box appeared in the "River Run" story arc. He was a former Golden Age hero who gained mystical powers from an otherwordly black box that one day appeared in his home. He had an incredibly strained marriage due to the disappearance of his son Michael, whom suffered from what might have been multiple scoliosis, as well as the effects his superheroics had on his lifestyle. The crux of the story featured Swamp Thing manifesting in the form of Solomon Grundy in Slaughter Swamp. Swampy, as Grundy, needs someone to reveal the long buried, horrible secrets of the cursed swampland, exposing decades of death and abuse so those who rotted in the swamp's waters could finally move on.

Including Black Box's son.

Obviously, I got this from Jerry due to his plethora of work on the JSA and Golden Age characters from DC.
