DescriptionWhat can I say, I LOVE Philip's work. Recently, I've been trying to take a break from collecting. At the same time I made my decision, Philip started posting pencil sketches (like this one) on his Facebook page as concepts for future projects. This piece was one of the first ones posted. As soon as I saw it, I HAD to have it. (or at least try) It's a perfect companion to the painted piece Philip did for me a few years back. A slightly different take on Victor Fries as well. (LOVE the ice bayonet!!) First, I want to thank my buddy, Olivier, for having my back on this and putting in a good word for me. Next, I want to thank both Philip Tan and his rep, Kirk Dilbeck, for being gracious enough to work with me so I can bring it home. I really appreciate you understanding and your professionalism. I'll be picking this piece up in person next month at NYCC.Social/Sharing |

Trying to take a break from collecting? Wow. If you figure out a way to break the addiction, please let me know. Great drawing, by the way. It is tailor made for your theme.

Congrats Patrick, great reason for postponing your 'break'! Of course his gun would have an icicle on it!

How in the world does Philip create those kinds of textural features with a single medium!?! There are metallic elements, shadows, bold shading, recessed shading, reflective surfaces, fog-engulfed features and on, and on, and on. At this point, he's just showing off. What a collecting coup and a masterful example of a piece of art crafted by a creator at the top of their game.

Really don't know what to say seeing as how everyone has said what has come to my own mind when seeing this. It's sheer brilliance!! I, too, love Tan's work and you've got an amazing piece by one of today's most notable talents. Huge congrats. :)

As others have said in the Comments, the way Tan creates different textures with just pencil work is Astounding! A Great Piece.

Very cool art! I take slight umbrage to the design overall, but that's nothing against the art itself. Bang on!
