DescriptionThis looks like pre-work more than a warm up to me. Anyway I have wanted something from Paul for quite a while but could never find the right piece. Gerry was kind enough to sell this one and thanks to all the facebook folks who let me know it was available!Social/Sharing |

Love all the faces, but can't believe there's only one with a stogie!

So awesome! That first large full figure pose is awesome, and you get LOTSA Ben Grimm expressions :) Killer piece, man, clearly in the right collection. Congrats!

When I'm looking forever
People tell me I'm lucky
Yes, I know I'm a Yancy guy
I remember the first time
He had lumpy fat fingers
Can't stop thinking about it now
Every little Thing he does
Smith does Benji, yeah
And you know the Things he does
He does warmly, ooh
With two figures I'm happy
Just to know heads are bulky
Yes, I know that we love Smith now
There is one Thing I'm sure of
He’s loved by Alicia
For I know love is never blind
Every little Thing she loves
She loves Benji, yeah
And you know the Things she does
She does with glee, ooh
Every little Thing she does
She does Benji, yeah
And you know the Thing she does
She does Benji, ooh
Every little Thing
Every little Thing
Every little

Great pickup! A really nice dynamic pose on the left, but all the different expressions/emotions on the right really make the piece. Congrats.

really nice like a model sheet that animators would use for facial expressions. This one though is so great and of course right up your alley. Congrats man!!!

Maybe it's part of a model sheet or design pack? Either way..fun pick up!

You've got a Ben for every mood! Fantastic expression study and love the pose on the main figure. All beautifully drawn.

Paul Smith is amazing! Look how well he draws the Thing--Not every artist is good enought to do that, but Paul handles it with ease. Just look at those eleven head shots, each showing a different expression. That's not easy to do when you're drawing a guy with a head that's essentially a pile of rocks! Stunning work, IMHO.

Yeah, I don't know if this is a warm up exercise or a model sheet (or maybe neither? Or both...?), but I don't care: it's a treasure trove of Smitty Benji goodness. :) I LOVE the anatomy and forced perspective on lunging Ben (fantastic facial expression there, too), and it's cool to see Paul sorting through influences on the stack of heads on the right: I see Wieringo, Kirby, Rude, and... some Simonson? Super cool piece, Chris - home where it deserves! Congrats, man!

Smitty draws a darn good Thing. You can tell that he really has a love for the character.
