DescriptionThis is my first page from what was PROBABLY the FIRST Fantastic Four comic I ever owned (contrary to what I earlier stated about FF 121, which was probably the SECOND, now that I try to get the events of my life in proper order) ... it was given to me as I was recuperating from an appendectomy during the Summer before 5th grade. The storyline was FASCINATING to me, with a HORRIFYING cliff-hanger ending (which seemed to be the case for ALL of my earliest comics ... check out FF 121, DD 56, Marvel Premiere 4, Captain America 157 for a sampling), and in Tullahoma, Tennessee, that meant I would not likely find out how the story ended for several YEARS! NOW I just need a page from FF 173 ... the first FF comic I ever BOUGHT.ADDENDUM: BIG THANKS to RodneyM (see "comments"): I now know that Dan Adkins filled in on inks for this page (which looked a little odd to be Sinnott). It was so wild to see the two Things in this storyline, and especially a Thing that talked like Reed Richards. This is a great page! Congrats Rob!

Great FF page by Buckler, who always drew a great Ben Grimm! Please note that this page was inked by Dan Adkins, not Sinnott.

I THOUGHT this page looked like different inking, but both the story credits AND Comics.org say that Sinnott inked the issue (and indeed, the REST of the books looks like Sinnott.) I'd be grateful to know how you determined it to be Adkins (which certainly seems plausible to me, but I'm just not knowledgeable enough to have figured that out.) Thanks for any insight you can share on this. Best wishes -- Rob

Your very welcome, Rob. The letters page for Fantastic Four issue #166 credits Dan Adkins with inks for issue #162 pages 30 and 31 with the following explanation: “due to deadline pressure, we didn’t have time to mail them to Joltin’ Joey. We think Dan did a great job for the overnight assignment he had – but we were amazed by how many F.F. boosters spotted the subtle difference, especially in the texture of the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed Thing.” The letter's page can be viewed at http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh626/shoveler11/Fantastic%20Four%20166%20Letters%20Page_zpsrvvocfzs.jpg If the image is too small to read, you can right-click it and select "View Image" from the pull-down menu to embiggen it. Hope that helps! :) Whether inked by Sinnott or Adkins, Bucker's Ben Grimm is always a treat. Congrats on the great, classic FF page!

I knew it didn't quite "feel right", but I NEVER would have noticed that letter page, so I'm grateful for the clarification, and I will correct the credits on my listing. THANKS!
