DescriptionOne of the best splashes of P Smith's short but inspirational run on the X-Men. Byrne's Phoenix was cosmically selfish, but somehow beyond good and evil. Paul Smith's Phoenix shows an earthly malice and callousness, totally consistent with the plot (well this is not really Phoenix, as all of you probably know). Fantastic camera angle, great characterisation, ultimate storytelling. Grail. Thanks a lot to Steven for allowing me to own this great piece.Social/Sharing |

Indeed, it is one of the most memorable splashes of my comic book reading era. It is one of those truly great "Holy Moly" moments, and after seeing it with virgin eyes, it was just much too long a wait till that next issue.
