Description

I've never used the term "grail" before, but for Transformers art collectors like me, this piece is truly worthy of that status. From the first issue of the 1984 Marvel mini-series, this historic artwork features Optimus Prime, Jazz, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Prowl, and all of the other original Autobots, most of which appearing for the very first time! Artist Frank Springer drew many of the characters based on their toys, as their animation models had not been established at that point in time! This 11" x 11" original artwork was literally copied and pasted onto a double page splash so that massive amounts of dialogue could be inserted around the Autobots.

Signed by Bob Budiansky, who not only was the editor on the original mini-series, but also created the names and biographies for virtually all of the Transformers. In 2010, Hasbro honored Mr. Budiansky's contributions by inducting him into their Transformers Hall of Fame.

This may very well be the grail of vintage Marvel Transformers pages. A very nice addition to your collection. Congrats!
