DescriptionThis painting was Ken Kelly's first published painting ever. Frazetta, Kelly's friend and family relative, set up a young Ken with Jim Warren. Frazetta also did some detailing to this piece, on the girl's face, arms, and around her body. If you examine the Egyptian Queen cover (the final version in the Frazetta museum--not the published version on Eerie #23) you will see a very similiar face.Kelly's overall detailing is absolutely first rate. The only thing that gives this painting the definite Kelly "signature" (beside's the signature!) is the beast's hand. This painting's style is a bit different than most other Kelly's I've seen (and own). Social/Sharing |

I've already called 911 because it's a crime that no ones commented on this piece :) I think it's a piece of history Between Ken's first painting, Frazetta's involvement in it and the simple fact that it's a Vampirella cover. A huge congrats for owning such Cool piece.

Ken. Happy New Year! Sorry it took so long to comment on your post...two short comments I wanted to make---first and foremost, I love your grail!!! I don't blame you---becoming a grandfather sweeps as the best one could ever expect! Very original post.... Second, there have been times in the past where I've seen artwork, some of which appeared quite amateurish, get tons of comments...praise..and what have you. I wondered, 'am I missing something????'. Then a few years back, an (unnamed) person on CAF sent me a private e-mail, praising my gallery, and asked me if I would mind commenting on some of his personal holdings on CAF. Now art, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder, but my eyes did not quite agree with fake comments that I'll never give on that guy's gallery. But this person told me that if I commented on his work, he and his buddies would 'bump up' my CAF views and comment on everything. Is this what it's suppose to be about??? I just do it for my buddies, and myself for that matter, because even though many of my friends have seen my collection in person, they like to view it more frequently, hence.... Thanks for your genuine comment. This is what it's all suppose to be about.....

Marc, a stellar Ken Kelly masterpiece! Having your uncle Frank Frazetta paint some of it can't hurt either. Wow. Big bravo on owning this one!
