DescriptionWhat on earth is that dreadful noise?Grail alert! Mick McMahon and Steve Parkhouse's extraordinary Junk-Yard Demon from Doctor Who Monthly #58, November 1981. When Mick quit 2000AD and Judge Dredd in despair faced with all of the figures that he had to draw for 'Block War' and before he re-started with comic with his amazingly innovative work on 'Slaine', he drew (as well as fully painted re-print covers for Titan) this stunning two-parter for Marvel UK's Doctor Who Monthly. Inked by Spaniard-for-hire Adolfo Buylla, this was partnership never-to-be-repeated, but was so perfect in melding of story and art (Tenth Planet Cyberman goes berserk in space junkyard), that it is forever burned into the brains of comics cognescenti of a certain age... Thank you to Paul for the sale! Ink and whiteout on thick glossy paper 33 cms x 47 cms Social/Sharing |

I always thought that Mick quit Dredd with good reason. For the money they were being paid it made no sense. Perhaps he should have used the Ron Smith, clock approach. Still, this is pretty awesome.
