Description'Around the turn of this century, the fragments of an ancient document were found in St Paulo's Churchyard, Berkshire...'Fabulous detailed illustration by Garry Leach for Gary Russell's short story in the 100th issue of Doctor Magazine (Marvel UK), May 1985. Using photoref from 'The Deadly Assassin', but adding his own slight changes and the Ainley Master, Leach created an indelible iconic image. Always loved Leach's work all the way back to Warrior comic, and I clearly love Doctor Who, so this a bit of a grail for me. Amusing to see that Leach had carefully composed the image for the magazine's spine break, with instructions...which were then completely ignored by then editor Cefn Ridout and designer Jane Hindmarsh. Boooooo! That wouldn't have happen with Peri Godbold! Pen, ink, whiteout of cartridge paper Paper 43 x 49.5 Image 39 x 33 Thanks to FBD for the trade! Social/Sharing |
