DescriptionAnother fabulously evocative piece by Adrian Salmon, illustrating the never made story "Farewell, Great Macedon" by Morris Farhi, from 1964. A synopsis of the story, which would have featured the First Doctor, Barbara, Ian Susan, was published in issue 293 of Doctor Who Magazine, with text by then editor Alan Barnes.A full-blown historical, the story finds the TARDIS team at thye Hanging Gardens of Babylon, at the court of the dying Alexander the Great (the Macedon of the title), and have to negotiate the conqueror's courtiers, all jostling for power at his demise... Who wasn't in production at this time and much like Star Wars fans, the core fans kept it aive with no promise of a future. Lots of new fiction and art of past Doctors enriched the lore to the point of the revival.
