DescriptionI don't know why I didn't include this in my CAF Gallery before. It is not only by one of the most accomplished modern comic artists but is also a wonderful rendition of scenes from two of my most memorable Spider-Man stories, each set approximately two decades apart. The first is instantly recognizable. It is from that classic scene from that classic issue in ASM #33 when Spider-Man, already incredibly stressed, miraculously lifts the heavy machinery under which he is trapped in order to bring the serum which his Aunt May needs to live. I believe that that scene is indelibly imprinted in all our memories because it demonstates in literally graphic form what Spider-Man stands for and which is embodied within that famous saying, "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility". A truly classic issue that has stood the test of time by Stan Lee and the great Steve Ditko. The second is from a truly poignant story which also demonstrates that saying - albeit now in the context of Spider-Man's humanity in the now famous story, "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man" in ASM #248. Spider-Man visits a terminally ill boy who has collected every article available on him - and, in a truly touching gesture, reveals (at the boy's request) his true identity and tells him how he became Spider-Man before embracing him in a tearful (and truly touching) goodbye scene. An excellent story by Roger Stern and illustrated by Ron Frenz. Many thanks to Felix for arranging this commission and, of course, to Matías for a splendid rendition. Social/Sharing |

A novel idea to combine two of the most moving ASM stories ever to bridge the Ditko age and the first JRJR age on the title!

Beautiful looking tribute to 2 time-less/classic story moments from Spider-Man's history. Very nice commission, congrats on the result and great work by Matias!

Wow, this is truly excellent! The lighting and color choices work hand in hand to give the classic Ditko scene so much weight. I love that you included a scene from The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man as well. I can't believe you held out on us for 4 years though!

Many thanks, Rubén. Yes, it is inexplicable as to how I never posted this. However, as they say, it's better late than never!
