DescriptionThis is not only an unusual page but is also facinating inasmuch as it is an all-pencil panel page drawn by John Romita Sr very early on in his stint on the title. Indeed, this was probably intended for the very second issue he drew (Amazing Spider-Man #40), but was not used (and therefore not inked by the late great Mike Esposito; see also the interesting handwritten notation at the bottom of the page ("1 extra page")). However, the page is, unfortunately, somewhat marred by the fact that someone who was obviously not very talented attempted to ink part of the third panel. There was a subsequent piece drawn many years later by John Romita Sr which can be used to cover that flaw. However, all in all, still a unique piece originally intended for an issue in which the Green Goblin's identity is revealed for the very first time.Social/Sharing |

An interesting extra from such a significant issue and one of my favourites as a child. Thank goodness they didn't mar it with any further attempts at embellishing, especially when it is already so detailed. Thank you for sharing this gem.

Congrats on grail page! I think its better that it wasn't inked. I love Romita's original pencil pages.....
