DescriptionACQUISITION DATE: 2008SOURCE: dealer OWNER HISTORY: 2 DIMENSIONS: 11x17 STOCK: Bainbridge illustration board CREATION DATE: 2006 SIGNATURE: autographed PUBLICATION: May 2007 While I am a great admirer of artists with individual and unique styles, as a collector, there’s nothing as boring to me as an artist who seems to do nothing more than ape other artists who have been doing it longer and better. In the case of Simone Bianchi, although at times he seems to be trying his best to channel the likes of Adams Hughes, Travis Charest, and Alex Ross (among others), I think he instead uses their stylistic elements as “ingredients” for his own special recipe! This stunning last page splash from Wolverine #52 was a completely unexpected find from WonderCon 2008! For me as a collector, there’s nothing more fun at a convention than falling in love with a piece that you weren’t even looking for. In the past, I’ve gone to cons with certain goals or specific targets, but more often than not, it would lead to disappointment. I think it’s so much better to just go in with eyes wide open and find great surprises like THIS piece! Anyway, big thanks to Hans & Mary Kosenkranius for being so cool and gracious and fun! I had such a good time hanging out at their booth just laughing and chatting it up. This is actually my very first purchase from Hans, although I’ve known him for quite some time. Please be sure to check out his CAF gallery AND his website Tri-State Original Art. Thanks again big guy! Oh, and thanks for always having your cell phone on! wink! wink! Social/Sharing |

While I love Simone's work on Batman more than anything, this is a stellar example ! - Nice pickup Eric.

Great addition. I like his distinctive layouts and wash technique. This is one of his better splash pages. Cheers! N.

Very striking image... it made me do a double take at Wonder-Con too... glad it caught your eyes as well and you managed to roll enough quarters to walk home with it the next day!~;)

The printed page does not do his work justice. To see an original like this is something else. Stunning

This one is a testament to your fine tastes in comic art. Fantastic page, all the Wolverine charcter is there, I think.

Sometimes I do feel bad categorizing a piece like this as "miscellaneous." But doesn't it make searching through my gallery a little bit more fun, not knowing what surprises you might find?
