DescriptionACQUISITION DATE: 2008SOURCE: dealer OWNER HISTORY: 1 DIMENSIONS: 11x17 STOCK: bristol CREATION DATE: 2006 SIGNATURE: T Sale PUBLICATION: unknown As with so many other artists that I don’t yet have represented, I’d been wanting to add the name Tim Sale to my collection for quite some time. But, as always, it’s usually been a matter of finding the right example, being able to afford it at the time, or having someone else jump in and grab it before I could get to it. Well, thank goodness for my buddy Mitch. As he has done so many times over our 25 year friendship, he’s been able to provide exactly what I’d been waiting and looking for. I was able to pick this up from Mitch on the fourth day of SDCC 2008. A truly fabulous example in Tim’s distinctive high contrast black & white style. I always figured that I would end up with a nice Batman piece from Tim, but landing this cover with my favorite character is better than anything I could’ve imagined. As I understand it, this was used as the cover for a French edition Spider-man reprint book. Hence, Spidey swinging over the Arc de Triomphe. I love the details Tim put into the Arc, and of course that “amazing” full figure Spidey! Anyway, another thank you in an endless line of thank you’s to my pal Mitch Itkowitz for plugging yet another hole in my collection and adding another brick to the foundation of our friendship. Love ya buddy! (8/8/08)Here's a real treat for all of you! My buddy Gerry Turnbull just sent me a jpg. of this piece that he colored, BRILLIANTLY, I might add. Be sure to go to his gallery and check it out. It truly is (dare I say it) AMAZING! Thanks Gerrry, great job! Social/Sharing |

Excellent piece, Eric! And with just a couple small detail changes, it could become the Arch in Washington Square Park in NYC's Greenwich Village, putting Spidey right at home again!

I love Tim's style and this is the most refined art Tim has ever done. The background absolutely makes the piece. Great addition. Cheers! N.

What a great Tim Sale cover. Tim is one of the best around. A true modern master. He makes such bold choices with his work, it's uncomprimising. I love it. And to have spidey swinging over Paris and not NYC makes it even cooler.

Don't get me wrong, I dig the fact that it's Paris as well! One thing though, and just because I find this kind of stuff funny...believe me, I'm not seriously looking for an answer...what is he swinging from?!? :)
