At the risk of upsetting many of the Byrne fans out there, I have to say that I was really disappointed by the overall quality of the artwork for the Batman/Cap graphic novel. Since I knew Jim Warden would be selling the artwork for it, I was really hoping to score either the cover or a nice splash from the highly anticipated book. But when it finally hit the stands, I realized that there wasn't a single page I wanted from it. Then, the following year at WonderCon, Jim had this beauty hanging at his booth. He told me the art was for a poster that was going to coincide with and promote the release of the GN. It reminds me of what John did for Alpha Flight #1, when he did two separate, but very similar pieces. One for the actual cover and another piece for a poster (see Additional Images above). In both cases, I actually preferred the poster versions. Anyway, this poster measures 17x22 and, in my most humble opinion, is WAY better than the actualy cover used for the graphic novel (see Additional Image above). Sorry John! Hi Eric, I've looked at this piece many times and felt it was about time I congratulated you on owning it! I have the poster to this somewhere, and have always considered it one of Byrne's best modern day pieces. Thanks for sharing it.
