Description

Most people might find it funny that when Rags & I are speaking on the phone..we are talking mood, form,temperature-[yes..even for B&W ],greyscale..all kindas of silly stuff..and this page is the result of those chats. As an artist I'm rarely happy with any work,but on this page I think the two of us hit a very nice note. Maybe the Best " Hawkman" page we did..in my opinion..and we do it on deadline!

Great brushwork! Reminds me of some of the classic inkers, Williamson, Raymond and Frazetta.

funny,i was looking at the detail shot of this and thinking the same thing,the brushwork does have that oldschool feel,frazetta/raymond. some of your best linework to date,no doubt about it. your lines have more confidence now than they did on the vampirella books. whatever you're doing,it's paying off...

This is such a fantastic page in so many ways. Hawkman is spectacular as always. What I really love though is the delineation on the tombstones. I love old graveyards & Wrightson has always been one of the best at rendering them. This is right up there in that category. This is what can make a so-so page simply magic - all the attention to fine detail throughout, not just on the main figure. That's not to say that this page is so-so in any way though Michael! It's fantastic!
