Description

Another great page of Avengers vs X-Men by the amazing Coipel & Morales team.

Here we have Black Panther slapping Tony Stark around so that he gets his act together and build the damn Phoenix scanner or machine that is going to stop it (I don�t really remember).

Now while this is a bit out of character, this is still fun to see these characters interact in such a way. Tony is a bit hard to recognize (why did he have to shave the �stache off, Olivier?). All these (slightly) negative points being said, we have great shots of BP here by a team who does him justice. He is quite regal on this page.

Note that the page is mainly filled with blacks (as opposed to surroundings, something Olivier is not really well known for ;) safe for the middle panel in which T�Challa (gently given the amplitude of his arm) slaps Tony around which greatly enhances the moment.

Also note the articulation of panels and their borders playing within each other�s to lead the reader eyes effortlessly in the right direction. That remark can also be said of the flow of inks (see that before last panel and how the shadows flow to Tony�s head to the bottom right corner of the page?)

This is simple but intelligent storytelling from one of the greatest modern team of artists.

2021: this page was also printed in Olivier Singapore's sketchbook so him picking it up for a self-published book with a limited number of pages would suggest it's a personal favorite of his :)

Great page and you’re right about the regal BP look. Coipel/Morales exhibit an imposing BP for sure. Very nice! Congrats!
