Description

One of my favorite books in comics history is, without a doubt, Bill Sienkiewicz's seminal run on The New Mutants. His often-surrealistic and dynamic style coupled with an amazing cast of characters to create a series of monthlies that stay in my mind even to this day...and totally redefined how I view comics. This run of books is where my love of Magik--Illyana Rasputina, the haunted Russian sorceress--stems from. When I saw that this page was available, one of my favorite pages from the entire run, I simply had to have it. It now resides in my portfolio, a page I never could have conceived of owning--one of the cornerstones of my collection. Thanks to Gus Poulakas for selling it to me and to Bill Sienkiewicz for creating works of art that helped paint the colors of the skies of my dreams for a lifetime.

Just before Sienkiewicz took over NM, I was growing tired of the X-Men & its related titles and was ready to drop them altogether. However, this run kept me around for a bit longer. Make no mistake, though, it was the art, not the writing, on this series that I remember most and I think this is a fine and memorable example of Sienkiewicz's style during this period.

New Mutants was my first encounter with Mr. Sienkiewicz's art. I hated it at first because I loved the New Mutants up till that point and I didn't understand the new art style. I was a 10 year old kid so it took a while for me to "get it". Now he is my number 1 artist. I must have 50 books signed by him. And I have the 2 sketches. Cannonball and Bullseye. But my God I wish I could own one of his New Mutants pages. If you ever decide to sell this please let me know first! This is an awesome page and you are so lucky to own it. Congrats on owning this amazing page of comic book history!
