Description

In this classic issue The Avengers travel back in time and experience the actual death of Bucky. May very well be the first comic in the Marvel universe to have the Silver Age super-heroes travel back to the Golden Age.

This amazingly fresh piece of art has not been on the market for almost 45 years. In 1969 a young teen-ager brought his entire 1960s comic book collection consisting of over 2,000 low and mid grade comics like Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Action, Batman and the Fantastic Four to his local comic store in Tulsa, OK to do a trade. He traded all of his comic books for a piece of art, the cover to Avengers 56. He found out years later that the owners of the comic store thought they had gotten a great deal from him. In our opinion he got the better of the deal. The legendary John Buscema penciled and the equally great Frank Giacoia inked this incredibly memorable cover.

Keep in mind the plot for the 2nd Captain America movie is based around Bucky's "resurrection" as the Winter Soldier will increase interest in Cap, Bucky and artwork featuring them.

Art is in excellent condition and measures 11.5" x 17.5".
