Description

This beautiful background painting shows just how incredible Eyvind Earle was as a painter and colorist. Even though the background appeared in three different scenes in the opening sequence of Sleeping Beauty, when invited guest are bestowing gifts upon the baby daughter of King Stephan, it still is only seen onscreen for very short periods of time. Yet the artist painted the gifts in great detail. It is because Eyvind Earle went to this trouble, both as the primary background painter and the color stylist for the film, that many consider the art of Sleeping Beauty to be the finest ever created by the Walt Disney Studio.
