Description

This piece was part of a fund-raising drive by The Inkwell Awards, a Federally-recognized charitable organization (lucky they didn�t put some politically incorrect word in their name). Their planned fund-raising event was cancelled due to the lockdown in Boston that weekend.

Ms. Inkwell is their symbol. She�s usually depicted with a third as much hair, less or no cleavage and no underwear showing. Her dress looks like a man�s suit cut high in the thigh. The artist, Charles Barnett, III went the full GGA route and put in another icon of the inkwell, Ko Ko the Clown. Ko Ko was animator Max Fleisher�s first big success. His series was entitled Out of the Inkwell and featured a rotoscoped Ko Ko literally emerging from the inkwell to interact with live people, usually Max Fleisher himself. In the silent movie 1920�s, his were far and away the most elaborate cartoons around. They looked realistic since they were more or less traced from live action.
