As I understand it, Jeffrey initially planned to paint the Idyl pages.
The first one took so much effort thst he switched to the B/Ws we all know so well.
This is the unfinished first Idyl. It's big, 28x40 inches.

Truly gorgeous, Jim. What a different Idyll we would know today. Both gorgeous, but color adds conceptually and emotionally different connotation.
