Just wanted to pick up the mantle from Tom.  Even three years is too long to not have a new comment on this incredible gem of a piece.  Before I did this, just for fun, I went and looked at the MOST COMMENTED list to see what kind of pieces people were getting excited about.  Nothing on that list (or even ALL the pieces on that list) can hold a candle to this cover.  Gave me a good laugh, if nothing else.  Anyway, will probably be back to vist and comment again.  I may even make it an annual event.  LOL!  I do agree with the comment about getting a nice full color scan posted Jim.  In fact, if you want to ship the piece out to me, I'd be happy to do it for you.  I'd send it back of course.  Eventually.

Thanks, Eric, for checking her out. One of the cornerstones of my collection.
I think I have a good scan somewhere. Will try to find and post.
Hope you're are well, and we will get a chance to visit.

HI, Thanks for the tip!  Looks like you identified that nasty-looking bugger.

Bill is, of course, an expert on the Jurassic era critters, so a real ...saur of some kind.

its a small, but beautiful illustration.  Glad Kong was around to deal with it.

Actually this is not a pulp piece- most of Rohmer's stories (that later were combined into novels) appeared in places like Collier's magazine - a major "slick" mainstream magazine at the time a competitotr to the Saturday Evening Post. Lambdin was third fine line illustrator to work on Rohmer's tales following Flanagan and JC Coll. Lambdin msotly worked for slick mainstream magazines and harcover books.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Makes sense, as the illustration work quality is so fine.

Im familiar with Coll, but Flanagan and Lambdin are now on my to learn list.

Hi Ray,  Your nice note on the Sheena piece gave me an excuse to visit your gallery again.

I'd forgotten you have this beautiful pencil, as many of Doug's prelims were very tight.

I have the final painting from many years ago, and Doug tweaked it a bit after publication.

Like the pencils, very nice!
