Description

Following in the footsteps of Raymond and Williamson, Carlos Garzon took on the art chores to Flash Gordon when the rights reverted from Charlton back to Western in 1978. Obviously, Garzon's style was heavily influenced by Williamson, who in turn was heavily influenced by Raymond and these pages demonstrate influences of both.

These pages come from the first 22 page comic story of Flash Gordon 35 entitled Queen of Ice, Queen of Fire referring to Fria, Raymond's Queen of Ice married to Ronal and Zarah the blind queen of fire. The story was written by John Warner and was reprinted in the Flash Gordon Comic-Book Archives (Dark Horse, 2010 series)

This is page 8 of the story where Flash and Zarkov enlist Ronal to help them determine what is happening in the mountains of the Ice Kingdom and discover a race of Giants. Straight out of the Raymond series, we see Ronal and Flash skiing down a mountain to battle the giants.

All of these originals are twice-up and very impressive.

I have 19 of the 22 pages of this story. If anyone knows where page 1, 2 and 16 live I'd love to know.
