Description

I obtained at Comic-Con International in San Diego in 2000. At the time, Ultimate-Spider Man had just launched or was just about to launch, and it would mark the beginning of Brian Michael Bendis's influence at Marvel. Not long before, though, Bendis's work was firmly outside the super-hero genre and was being released by smaller publishers.

I'm thrilled with the sketch, as it represents Bendis's self-caricature in the same style he used in Fortune & Glory (published by Oni Press), an autobio comic detailing Bendis's effort to navigate the bizarre world of Hollywood. Since rising at Marvel and working with TV and movie people in that capacity, I'm sure his experiences have... stabilized a bit.
