DescriptionWay back on November 2, 2012 Mike was nearing the end of his Kickstarter for his book Timmy and the Moon Piece. He decided to add some A la Carte options to reach the goal and one of them was for a sketch card of HeroBear. I of course had to up my pledge to get one since I had been wanting a piece by Mike for a very long time. I decided to pledge for 2 sketch cards. After pledging for them I decided on a whim to message Mike and see if there was any chance that I could have a Tyler sketch on one of the cards. At first he turned me down saying if he did that it would turn into more of a commission since it was supposed to be a Herobear sketch card. I understood what he was saying so I kindly thanked him for his time. Well shortly after that he sent another message saying that if all 55 of the sketch card rewards hadn't sold by the following night he would make an exception and make me a Tyler card.November 3, 2012 was one of the roughest days of my life. We could see that it was coming but on that day my grandfather passed away after being in the nursing home for 5 years. I think I can call myself lucky because while growing up I have had all 4 of my grandparents around. I had never really experienced death that close to me before. Before my grandfather was put in the nursing home he had lived with us so we were very close. I remember lots of great times we spent together so his death was very hard on me. Well after that long miserable day of crying I remembered that there may be just a glimmer of happiness available to brighten my day so I sent Mike a message to see if the sketch cards had all sold or not. They cards had not all sold so in addition to the Herobear card I also got a Tyler. There were a few hiccups along the way which is why the cards are now finally arriving. When Mike initially sent the books he forgot to include the sketch cards so said he would send them along. This was back in June 2013. Well Mike became overwhelmed and consumed by 2 jobs and didn't get around to shipping them until mid September. When I hadn't received them by mid October I began to get worried they were lost so I sent Mike another message asking about them and he said he was afraid they were as well. He said he would draw up some replacements and get them mailed. Well the holidays came around as well as a new job so Mike didn't get around to shipping them. He finally sent a picture on twitter of the cards as well as them all packaged up on January 19, 2014 and they finally came in today. I have to say it was well worth the wait. I love it. Just a fantastic Herobear sketch. Size 3.5x5 Social/Sharing |
