This is the incredible cover by Kalman for Irredeemable 35.

And for those asking themselves, yes this is the actual cover which was completed in pencils and not a prelim :)

Irredeemable is a fantastic Boom comic from Mark Waid where Superman basically goes mad and tries to take over the world. I know it's begining to feel like the uberman gone mad theme has been done to death but I'm always a client for it if done well.

Regarding this cover, what appealed to me was the rage and crazyness of the character enhanced by the extreme close up and the crazy stare. I think Kalman captured that perfectly. The pencil medium was also a plus because it adds spontaneity to the cover and the emotion it tries to convey.

Simply put this cover screamed at me. When I saw it in the solicitations (with red bacground which adds to the overall tone/emotion of the cover), on the rack and finally in the Belgian stores as this cover was used for one of the French translated volumes :)

I waited for some time to complete this purchase and I'm glad I did as I am thanful no one bought it before me :)
