DescriptionBlackfire (evil sister to Starfire of the Titans) lets loose with an energy blast at Starro the Conqueror, to no avail. I was thrilled to pick up this page from the Where Monsters Dwell guys because I think this new design for Starro was brilliant, transforming him from a campy giant alien starfish from the Silver Age of comics into an intimidating, barbarian figure. I'm not sure if artist Claude St. Aubin was responsible for this new look, but whoever it was, s/he is to be applauded. It even stays true to the original concept for the character with the incorporation of an original Starro form onto this new body.This is a pencil-art only page. The Grand Comic Database lists Scott Hanna as the inker on this issue, but I'm not sure if the inks were digital or done on a separate blueline page (I suspect the latter). Social/Sharing |
