Description

In my opinion, nobody commissions cooler sequential art page commissions than Brian "Marvel Two-in-One 76 Guy" Sagar. The stuff he has had done is phenomenal. If you don't believe me, go check out his CAF gallery and see for yourself (then come back here). It was his great collection of sequential page commissions that I decided to try it myself, and man, I'm I glad I did. Ian Richardson just blew this one out of the water.

This particular piece is partially based on a page I saw in Justice League of America #18 by Alan Burnett and Ed Benes. The story had the Suicide Squad trying to invade JLA HQ and take down the League. The page that inspired this commission had Bronze Tiger teleporting in and delivering a flying kick to Arsenal which takes him out (see page below). My version has him trying that same maneuver on Triathlon with a decidely different result.

Now, don't bother whining to me that the Bronze Tiger should've won this because he's such a formidable fighter blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada, yakkity yak. Its my call, and its just a fact that Triathlon has three times the ability of peak human. That means his senses are three times more acute than a person with perfect sight, hearing, etc. He's three times stronger than peak human, three times faster relexes and speed. Sorry, but even while goofing off on monitor duty, he'd still react fast enough to avoid the Tiger's kick and moves at least three times faster than the Tiger does -- and oh yeah, he HITS THREE TIMES HARDER. Tiger goes down. Don't cry.

S'funny -- years ago, the very first commission I ever had done was by Ron Lim and featured Quicksilver outracing the Flash, a piece that is posted elsewhere in this gallery. So I get all this pissin' and moanin' about how that's so wrong because the Flash is faster than Quicksilver and there's no way Pietro could outrun Wally. And yet when I have a piece where the faster character is beating the not-as-fast character, I'm getting noise about how the slower character should be winning. Make up your minds, haters.:-)

This may lead to some additional sequential art pages featuring the Brotherhood going against the Suicide Squad. You can look elsewhere in this gallery and see and stunning piece featuring the Brotherhood throwing down against the Suicide Squad as drawn by the incomparable Chris Ivy. Heck, I'm thinking let's just do a whole comic!

Ian Richardson just continues to amaze me with everything he does. That this man is not working on some high profile gig for Marvel or DC just boggles the imagination. Yet when DC relaunched the New 52 a few years back, Rob Liefeld was getting multiple gigs. Need proof that life isn't fair? There it is. Much thanks to Ian for yet another amazing job.

Beautiful work from Ian! Though I don't think that Delroy would stand a chance against Ben! :)

You know, I was just joking about Galactus and the Spectre, and then I go to your gallery and find you REALLY DO have a piece featuring Karate Kid taking down Galactus, LOL!!

I saw this on Ian's DA page a couple weeks back and thought it was great. Being a fan of 3-D man I can see Triathlon winning this. Ian is so great to work with,I really can't understand why he isn't on a monthly too. I have a one pending and another to post from Ian when completed. Really fun piece here Damon!

I'll tell you why Triathlon would win this fight -- because he's the only superhero who can run, swim, and bicycle ALL AT THE SAME TIME! What? That's not what his name means? Oh. Well, then, he wins because Damon Owens says he wins! And when it comes to awesome commissions, what Damon Owens says, goes! Hah! Take THAT, Bronze Tiger!

Sequential art commissions, eh? ;-) Given Triathlon's similarity to the awesome 3D-Man, I can dig it that he wins.

A crime that Ian's not got a regular gig! A crime!!

That said, since he's not he's available to create wonders like this for you :) Congrats Damon!

Thank you for giving Arsenal some justice by having Bronze Tiger go down.
