Descriptiontom sutton was the second comic artist i ever met way back when i was in art school. the first was the late great bhob stewart who was one of my teachers. tom invited me to his house where he had an attic studio. i think i was about 19 at the time and saw how he worked. for a wide eyed kid who aspired to one day be a pro, it was something i'll never forget. i followed up that first visit with a hand full of others and learned a lot just hanging out and talking comic art with tom. a true hero of mine and i feel lucky to have known him.Social/Sharing |

Now who is the old lady with an umbrella narrator ??oh my god, that's funny! the old lady with the umbrella is actually tom sutton, the artist who plotted and drew the story. if you look close you'll see some comic pages falling out of the portfolio he's carrying. the reason i got the page is because when i was in art school many years ago i met tom a few times and he couldn't have been nicer or more generous (he was the second pro that i ever met, the first being bhob stewart, so for me it was a really big deal). so this is a good way for me to remember him. besides all that, it's a cool page.

Now that I read the bubble more closely it couldn't be more obvious because he flat out says "This is terrifyin Tom Sutton". When I read that I thought he was referring to a character in the story... sort of how Crypt Keeper and those types set up the story. Anyways. Sorry about that. Awesome that you have this piece of art with such an awesome personal back story. AND like you say, an awesome piece of art !!!

Boy, do I regret not buying this page now when it was on sale at Anthony's site. I loved this bool. Tower Of Shadows and Chamber of Darkness too were highlights of my adolescence. Let me know if you ever...well, you know. Congrats!
