DescriptionThe start of the mystique of Dragon Con being the home of rare sketch opportunities. 1995, Dragon Con hosted the NaSFiC (North American Science Fiction Convention). Michael Whelan was the artist guest of honor that year, but he showed up at the convention the previous year to check things out. Michael does not do commissions or convention sketches. So what is this? This is what happens when you have an artist who wants to take a gift back to his young son of unavailable anywhere else toys from his favorite show, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I happened to be set up with a vendor selling imported Japanese toys from the second season that was not on the air yet, so we made a trade of toys for a sketch. He got a happy son, and nearly 20 years later, I still have a fantastic sketch to look at. I think we both came out ahead on that deal. :-)Social/Sharing |

This is impossibly great! An amazing piece of art from one of the very best illustrators ever in my opinion! Great story too!
