Description

Graham Ingels's Haunt of Fear #20 page 6 (EC, 1953). The masterful storytelling of Graham Ingels is showcased at its best in this frenetic page from the cover story of issue #20. His work for the EC horror titles Haunt of Fear, Vault of Horror, and Tales from the Crypt is often cited as the standard by which horror comics art is measured. This HOF page comes from the "Thump Fun" story which directly references Edgar Allan Poe's classic Tell Tale Heart. With his sinewy figuration and distinctive characterizations, Ingels was an ideal visionary for EC's twisted tales of horror and revenge and this 1953 page dates from the height of the classic EC era. This is large, twice-up art with an image area of about 12" x 18".
